Keiji Haino
Any recommendations on CD's by the man? I'm interested in (and haven't heard yet) Fushitsusha, and the recordings with Derek Bailey and Brötzmann...
But he has a vast catalogue, maybe more than 90-100 CD's that he's appeared in...
I just started my hunt with a duo with Coil ("Play the Blues") and two CD's with Loren Connors.

I am a huge fan, and prefer his early solo recordings. If I remember right my first intro was I said, This is the son of nihilism which is still one of my favorites. I also really like The Book of "Eternity Set Aflame" and for Fushitsusha I prefer the earlier PSF titles (untitled). So, black is myself is another great album.

Cool Jared, those sound interesting; I'll look for them. Any recs on the collaborations with other Japanese/international people?

They are ok, but I would spend the money and time on his earlier stuff. The Loren Connors albums are probably the best IMO of the collaborations. The rest are just ok.
I have not checked out any new stuff within the last 6 months or so, but I assume the verdict is still the same.

I'm not very knowledgeable of Haino's work, unfortunately, but I do really dig the Fushitsusha and the two Haino cds I have. The Fushitsusha is called "Withdrawe, the Sable Disclosure Ere Devot'd", but I don't remember what the other ones are called.
Oh yeah, and I dig that Brotzmann/Haino/Hano as well.
Every time I'm in Amoeba, I plan on picking up some more Fushitsusha/Haino but I never know which ones to get and end up not buying any.

Those three ones are on its way. The duet with Coil from the mid-90's is hilarious and well quite bluesy. He plays "Bad to the bone" with harmonica accompaniment and all.
Any opinions on the ones prior to the 90's? I've seen two or three titles from the 70's and several from the 80's...

'Pathetique' (with Fushitsusha) has always remained my favorite of Haino-involved recordings.
