Art Blakey - Kyoto

I ordered the cd off of amazon, art blakey and the the jazz messengers recorded this album on riverside, it's never mentioned with the top blakey albums, maybe because it's only 33:00 minutes long and it wasn't a blue note recording. But the tracks on this album are great, Track one 'The High Priest' kicks it off and Freddie Hubbard's 'Kyoto' deserves repeated listenings great hardbop session. I highly recommend this album!!

Everything by that particular edition of the Messengers is great. Of the Riversides, Ugetsu is my favorite.

'ugetsu' is another great riverside date! the oddity to 'kyoto' is art blakey's cousin singing the blues on 'wellington blues' a first in the messengers discography.

Unfortunately, it is an oddity.
