If George Bush is so bad, then why do so many people like him?
I figured since one out of three people approve of the job he's doing, and there's about 300 million people in the United States, that makes 100 million people that like him.
So if he's so bad, how come so many people approve of him?

Because you can fool some of the people all of the time?
One of my co-workers says she voted for him, twice, because he's a good Christian man, and that's all she needs to know.

People don't generally think very deeply. They get a vague impression, like "hey, he's my kinda guy", or "he's really giving it to those bad guys", and that's enough, they've formed a political opinion.
In the case of Bush, he's "fighting the war on terror". But a lot of people don't realize how incompetent the fight is, or that he went to war in the wrong country. They also don't know about the most gigantic debt the world has ever known - how many people can explain the difference between the national debt and the deficit?
By the same token, I think Ronald Reagan wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as is/was, if people really knew what he did or stood for.

Or 33.333333333333333333333333333333%, right?
Let’s look at it this way:
16.1% of the population has a “Low Average” IQ score (80-89)
6.7% of the population has a “Borderline” IQ score (70-79)
2.2% of the population has an “Extremely Low” IQ score (Below 70)
This amounts to 25% of the American population, being not very bright.
Add to it the percentage of assholes in this country, and there you are.
Do the math; I would think that 8.33333333333333333333333333333% is quite a low percentage of Americans whom are assholes (I would put it at 10 to 12 percent, myself)
So, there you have it.

Don't forget, the way you guys are crunching numbers, that includes a lot of folks under the age of three. Give them a chance to grow up, maybe they'll catch on.

At least 25% are assholes, and another 25% are shmucks. Therefore, Bush detractors are not off the hook either.

Of course, there are billions more in the world outside the US who don't like him. How can so many be wrong?

A large percentage of people in this nation also believe that a man and his family built an ark, loaded up a sexed pair of each species of all animals in the WORLD, and survived a flood that took over the entire planet for over a month (after which the water drained and revealed land; and oh yeah, an olive tree grew large enough for a dove to bring back a sprig). And that all the entire planet is offspring to these people.
People literally believe this story; some of them on this site. So if they believe that, won't, can't they believe in anything?

If you're referring to Uta-napishti, the king of Shuppurak, who was counseled by the Ea on how to survive the Deluge and who now resides at the edge of the World and holds the secret to eternal life...unless you can prove otherwise, I'll continue believing in his existence.

Born Again Christian conservatives ( largely
southern based and probably slipping down the backside of the intelligence bell curve )
still believe in him ..
But then again , they believe in a lot of weird shit that I don't ( i.e. the rapture, creation of the universe in six days, etc )
Add to this ( at the far distant pole of the ethical and moral spectrum ) the money grubbing , mendacious ,super rich minority that have benefitted greatly from DUBByas'
"help the have mores" philosophy ...
this might be an effective corollary to Doc Ms' "assholes and idiots" theory ...

I guess it's tough, despite the supreme screwup that the last six years have been, to attempt to suck up to the party in power, while at the same time convince your own party that you have a better way.
If the Dems don't get their act together, their apparent failure to present a united front, with candidates who could lead the country, and the world out of the dark could result in four, probably eight more years of a Bush clone.
Somebody once said that nobody can please everybody. Never has that been more true than it is now for the Democrats.

Is this co-worker old enough to have voted for Jimmy Carter twice? He wasn't just a "good Christian man", he campaigned on being "born again."
