The All-Purpose, Cross-Forum "If X is so bad, how come blah blah blah?"

This way we don't have to start a new thread every time.

So, if being fat is so bad, how come you are?

How dare you maintain that X is bad and imply that blah blah blah is better!

X most definitely is bad, and blah blah blah because nobody thinks it will make them sick, and if it does, they'll sue.

Well, we can laugh about this, but, IMHO, it's a perennial question, one that people have written aethetics books and articles about for centuries. That's why there's so many threads on the subject. It seems like people are wired to feel both that liking X better than Y is a "personal preference" but that some X's may actually be "objectively better" than some Y's--whether they (or anybody?) likes those X's better or not. It's a perpetually intriguing question.

not as tho i am implying that any opinion on the subject is wrong or in some way non objective or immoral, however... whenever considering how bad X really is, and how much better Y could possibly be, and then you spend all day counting your blah's and never even notice that you missed the bus AGAIN...

here's my input on the subject.... whenever you consider the average worth and value of both X and Y when considering your options.... did you ever bother to ask what Z thought about it?

For Z it was about the ability of Fascism to disguise itself as a legitimate government of laws.

If you are not outraged by X, you are not paying attention.
