Wrestler Crazy Luke Graham dies

Crazy Luke Graham, real name Grady Johnson, died last week. A moment of silence please as you remember this trailblazer.

Wait a minute. Are you saying those Grahams weren't all really brothers?!?

*sigh*

I have to go sit down.

Superstar Billy Graham might be next in line to follow his "brother" Crazy Luke Graham. The Reverend Superstar has been ravaged by the many years of steroid abuse and is now an outspoken critic/lecturer vis a vis the evils of steroids.

I used to love wrestling when I was a kid in the 70s and there were all kinds of regional promotions to be found on cable tv. Though just as fake, they played it as more of a sport than a video game in those days. Anyway, a few years ago, I came upon a "where are they now" site for old wrestlers, and I was amazed at how many of the wrestlers from those days are now dead. So many relatively young guys, supposedly healthy, dropping dead of heart attacks in their thirties and forties. It has to be the roids.

Man; Crazy Luke. Those were the days. I believe Crazy Luke and Dr. Jerry Graham are the earliest bad guy tag team champs I can remember.

I forgot about their supposed younger brother Superstar Billy Graham -; who was sort of the "template" for both (long-haired, early) Jesse the Body AND Hulk Hogan.

Luke is finally reunited with his manager, Wild Red Berry (or were the Grahams managed by the Grand Wizard of Wrestling?)

I'm pretty sure the first time I ever saw a report on the health hazards of excessive steroid use, maybe in the late 80s, it involved a wrestling Graham. I would've said Luke but perhaps it was another of those peroxided fools. I seem to recall that the bones in his elbows and knees had begun to fuse together.

I think I mentioned on the other thread that I saw Dr. Jerry Graham fight Bruno around 1964 in Poughkeepsie....
