The impact of the annual festival is certainly rather diminished by the 'year round' format they've expanded to....the spring season line-up was stronger than this, from my perspective.

Chicago is nothing special this year either, and I think Monterey & Montreal get more lackluster every year too. Seu Jorge & Sclavis/Romano/Texier in one night did redeem Montreal for me this year, however. & Fogret about JVC.

I think the only North American Festival that clearly improved this year was Vision.

The little-recognized Stanford Jazz Festival has a nice lineup this summer. Worth checking out: SJF

Cool.

In August I'm in SF to see the Giants play...maybe I'll swing by Stanford to take in Cedar Walton.

Thanks for the info, Brooks.

I really want to see this, and so far I'm still free on the date. Anybody know if it's going to be the group from the two albums -- I love them both! Looks like a go for me.

I'd really like to see these, too, but I'm booked for club dances those days.

Damn, that's high praise indeed (Vision), coming from Pete. Sorry I missed it. Montreal's schedules haven't been making me jump and up and down, either, Pete, though I'm sorry I missed hearing Sclavis, and Texier also.

It was a good lineup this year, but I'm not sure that "clearly improved" is high praise.

I qualified it by calling it high praise from you.
