Great Ct. Traditional Jazz Festival, Moodus, CT, July 28-30

What -- The Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Festival is the largest festival in all of the Northeast featuring old time jazz. Great bands from around the world perform under 4 tents/venues providing entertainment for your entire family as well as your friends.

Where -- The Sunrise Resort in Moodus - a perfect match for a festival wanting to promote both great music and a day or weekend event. Sunrise boasts 140 acres, has a 50' x 100' pool, boating on the Salmon River, a mini resort for kids, mini golf, many court games plus lots more!

When -- July 28, 29, 30, 2006. There will be a Friends of Jazz / Sponsors / Jazz Angels / Volunteer party on July 27, 2006 as well.

Why -- Traditional jazz is the cornerstone of modern American popular music. Attending and supporting this festival helps to keep this wonderful musical tradition alive for us to enjoy and for future generations to cherish.

Who --
Cornet Chop Suey, Blue Street, Igor and his Jazz Cowboys, the Wolverines with Jimmy Mazzy and special guest Chris Trapper, and Jonathan “Jazz” Russell.

Our own great CT traditional jazz musicians will include Jeff Barnhart’s Festival All Stars, the Galvanized Jazz Band with Jane Campedelli, The Bearcats, and The CT Festival All Stars. Dan Levinson and RL Tradition, and Tex Wyndham and Friends will perform on Friday and Saturday only.

The Fryer-Balaban Swingtet and The United Stated Coast Guard Band will be performing on Friday only. On Saturday only The Elm City Banjo Society, Washboard Slim and the Blue Lights , Ivory and Gold, Jas’m, and Swing 39 will be on stage.

The Little Big Band will be playing for the Swing Dance Party on Saturday night.

New this year will be Harmonicarama, a competition of harmonica players with tryouts on Saturday from 11AM to 1:15 PM and prize winners and pros performing 7:45 to 9 PM.

On Sunday, Gospel singer, Wende Harston will be featured at the Gospel Service presided over the Rev. Joshua Crowell.

The Finale on Sunday at 5PM will be a special Mardi Gras event.
