#2, the 1947 Fender, is an actual "table guitar." I've seen 'em with three necks, even. What makes them tables is that they don't have pedals. They're really sort of overgrown lap steel guitars.
Speaking of which, here's a photo of a real 1940s Rickenbacher (that's how it's spelled on the head) made-in-Los-Angeles frying-pan lap steel. One of my musical partners in crime plays one of these, and has given me to understand that David Lindley owns dozens of them. The body is Bakelite. I held one of these in my hands on Sunday, and it felt like what I imagine it would feel like to hold a meteorite. Absolutely bizarre:
