The man's remarkable, he must be a genius with time management to take on another duty, too.

[ BTW, I thought he played with Ellington, not Basie.]

Clark Terry is one of my favorites. Love him.

I just hope he wears his flakjacket while he is in Pine Bluff, a town I used to live in.

In 2000 (the last figures I could find), the FBI said that Pine Bluff was second in the nation for per-capita crime, and among the Top 5 in six crime categories.

Pine Bluff ranked first on the FBI lists in violent crime, aggravated assault, and burglary; third in property crime and murder; and fourth in rape.

I was living in Pine Bluff in the late 70s and early 80s, after I got out of the Army. I furnished a cheap apartment with Salvation Army furniture. I came home one day with my window open and all my cheap, threadbare furniture gone.

I know, I saw him trading fours, etc., with flugelhorn in one hand and tpt in the other. The guy's got such a wonderful stage presence, to boot.

He is a marvel, he truly is. A nicer more talented man you'll never meet. He has such a way about him as to never leave your consciousness. A nice man to remember, to have known.

May his health situation allow him the time to pass on his vast wealth of experience to a younger generation of jazz musicians!

GP, I'd've inserted "still" between "a" and "younger".....

What a doll!
