New Woody Witt CD with Tim Hagans

Houston saxophonist Woody Witt (www.woodywitt.com) will record his next cd live at Cezanne on August 18 and 19. Showtimes will be 9 and 11 pm, $15 door charge. The band will include -

Tim Hagans (trumpet - www.timhagans.com)
Joe Locascio (Houston-based pianist, www.joelocascio.com)
Fred Hamilton (bass, UNT faculty, www.fredhamilton.com)
JT Bates (Minneapolis-based drummer)

New compositions by Witt, Hagans and LoCascio, in addition to some standards. The cd will be released on Apria Records (www.apriarecords.com) later this year.

I was at the first set last night (Friday, August 18), and this group was burning - great material, the best sound I think I've heard at Cezanne, and a very appreciative audience. Woody told me he hopes to have the CD out by the end of the year. I'm really looking forward to it.
