I wish that I could be there, my friend. I'm confident that we'd have more than one thing to discuss.

The TBA on fri. is Keith Saunders (who founded or co-founded the NY Hardbop Quintet on keyboard (no piano there, sad to say.

Please come say hello one of the three nights. It's a very relaxed place for listening and we play more or less what we want as long as we do it quietly.

Gentle reminder....

First gig is tonight, then Friday, finally next Wed. These comrades are wonderful musicians, BTW. John Beal is a master player who's not as well-known to jazz fansb/c of doing mostly Broadway work lately. But he can play and swing his ass off. Sean Smith is one of my best friends and a great musician. Keith Saunders is a swinging piano player who co-founded the NY Hardbop Quintet. Then there's me...(insert Groucho cigar-flicking icon). Background music but fun. We play what we want (or what you want if you ask us nice).

Also tomorrow, Thurs. Aug. 3, Doug Wamble's quartet will be playing at Barbe's. (9th st. near 6th Ave, Park Slope. Brooklyn . 10-12 PM). Doug and I have been feuding on the Internet for years and decided a little friendly competition might clear the air and let us be friends and get on. he was nice to invite me. His group is good and he's an interesting player. Not sure when my big entrance wil be but it's only a 2 set gig. And the winner: music.

Hope to see some of you at these gigs.

It's just a duo w/Doug's bass player, I misspoke. I will join them for the 2nd set. Last night w/Sean was fun---until a brownout caused the building to be cleared. The gig ended a little early, no money lost Dog days....
