Thank Your Local Promoters Thread
A while back in a Signal to Noise editorial, Eugene Chadbourne mentioned that in terms of infrastructure supporting the music, there's usually like one person in any given city who sort of acts as a touchstone for trying to bring the music to a wider audience.
I'm no longer in Detroit, but when I was, my stay was made a little bit better thanks in no small way to the efforts of Pat Frisco to bring a lot of great music to town. Because of all those "Entropy Studios" shows, I was able to catch Hamid Drake, Assif Tsahar, John Lindbergh, Frank Gratkowski, Ernst Reijseger, Kalaprush Maurice McIntyre, and others.
Pat, since you're still on this BBS, a hearty thanks for your efforts.
Okay, now the rest of you: who is owed thanks for ensuring the music survives in way out places? (i.e., places that aren't New York, where spoiled brats like Olewnick have the luxury of deciding whether or not to attend a Cecil Taylor show on any given day)
