Chicago Jazz Fest

The Chicago Jazz Festival is Chicago's seventh most popular festival
Event: 28th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival
Festival Dates: August 31- September 3, 2006
Location: Grant Park, Jackson Blvd. and Columbus Drive
Hours: The Chicago Jazz Fest opens each day at 11:00 am
Attendance: 300,000 people expected
Admission: All concerts at Grant Park are free admission
Note: The Chicago Jazz Festival is produced by the Mayor's Office of Special Events and programmed by the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
The Chicago Jazz Festival officially opens with a ticketed performance at the Symphony Center on Thursday, August 31. The festival then moves to Grant Park for three days of FREE music on three different stages. The event opens daily at 11 am. In addition to the music, the Chicago Jazz Festival features an art fair located in the Rose Garden just south of Jackson Boulevard.

The fair offers a variety of handmade crafts and artwork. Jackson Boulevard is also the locale where jazz fans can enjoy refreshments from local vendors or relax in the Wine Garden.

Please note that parking is not available on festival grounds. Parking garages are located at the Millennium Park Garage that can be accessed on Columbus between Randolph and Monroe from either north or south, the Monroe Street Underground at Monroe & Columbus, and the Grant Park Underground parking garage entrances located at Michigan at Madison and Michigan at Randolph. The Mayor’s Office of Special Events encourages taking public transportation to all downtown festivals and parades.
