Uzeda : Stella

This might be my favorite release so far this year. Anyone who's a fan of Albini (as engineer) at his best needs to hear this.

Also:
Scott Walker : The Drift
Nina Nastasia : On Leaving

The new Califone is on emusic if you do that. It just came out on the 10th.

They're probably my favorite non-jazz music.

While not as consistently excellent as their previous disc, Miracle Mule, the Subdudes' 2006 offering "Behind the Levee" is a fave.

My lungs are blackened with the smoke and sobs
So just be a man and finish the job
And I'll watch you from this distant place I've found
Oh you know I won't make a sound
Burn this town down.
