On Monday I was in district court in Barnstable, and the state police brought in a paralegal whom they had arrested in the midst of a trial in superior court (across the parking lot) which was being defended by his boss. The charge was intimidation of a witness, who told the police that the paralegal, during a recess in the trial, had struck up a conversation with him and he felt intimidated enough to perjure himself on the stand.

The attorney for whom the paralegal works has somewhat shady reputation himself, and the paralegal is an ex-con who (as it came out at the bail hearing) once had a shootout with state police officers (about twenty years ago). It all made for great theater. Basically his boss had to leave the trial in superior court (which greatly annoyed the judge) and come over to the district court to do the bail argument for his paralegal, then go back and resume the trial. Great stuff.

Having met my very good friend jmj in person, I can honestly say that............

Aw hell, I was going to try to convince the rest of you that he was menacing and intimidating. But you know, the truth of it is that he is neither. If he attempted to intimidate me, I'd smack him on the back of the head and drag him(though the dragging part wouldn't be necessary)to the closest bar and buy him however many drinks it would take to dull the pain.

Then I'd steal his sweet little ride and beat it like a rented mule for the rest of the night.

He'll never suspect a thing.

I didn't realize you lived in NYC.

I've been there before. I still prefer Boston.

Well, you said "come to". That usually implies that you are there, right?

Last night his wife was on tv talking about how outrageous it was for the marshalls to bust in their home and take him and all. Well now ain’t that what Dog does for a living? They should arrest the motherfucker’s barber too.

Well, since I've been hanging out in NYC since the mid sixties I guess that I usually am there. And that's what I meant, my friend, that if you went to NYC I'd probably be there so that's why I said come. Of course that doesn't necessarily mean I live there.....

I wouldn't disagree at all with that, Jason, but more specifically the only part of Connecticut that's considered a "suburb" of NYC is Fairfield County which happens to be where I live. I'm only too glad to live with that designation.............

A guy who is in my cooking class at the CIA is part of the NBC production team working on a documentary about "Dog The Bounty Hunter."

I had never heard of the guy until my new buddy mentioned him.

I couldn't figure out why my cooking buddy always rolled his eyes when he talked about his work on "Dog the Bounty Hunter.". After reading this thread, I know now.

When I heard about "Dog the Bounty Hunter" I first thought it was some kind of police K9 unit.
