Cool thread. I'll vote for: Deniro, Hemings, Cage (for "Raising Arizona"), Brown, FDR, Newton (for alchemy), Picasso (for "Guernica"), Miro, Kandinsky, Mingus, Monk, The Sopranos (for seasons 1 & 2), Lord of the Rings, and Caesar.

I was wondering Jason if anybody remembered "Crime Story" ... did you ever see it? I thought it was a very influential show that pre-dated some of the Sopranos ideas. But I'd probably take the Sopranos, too.

Cheers,

Rob

Loved "Crime Story", but then, I'm a Michael Mann fan in general. Great jazz use in the soundtrack, I remember one ep that had a tense scene scored with Stan Getz/Eddie Sauter's "Night Rider" from Focus.

Not as good the second season as the first, but a great way to go out when it was cancelled, with the second season finale showing all the principals go down in a plane, smashing into the water.

Loved "Crime Story." Can't hear Del Shannon's "Runaway" without thinking of it.

Never a Miami Vice, but Crime Story had it's share of viewers. They both went off in their prime. We heard they, both shows crews and actors were too close to things, in more ways than one. We hear the crew in Miami were getting in too thick with the wrong people, the narcotics squad being some of them. Remember how they were busted not too long after the show moved out of town? Seems some Hollywood types were getting worried.
