JAZZIZ is generally jazz' version of lite toilet reading material, like People mag...
If they didn't send us copies each month to the radio station I'm at, would be no reason to buy or read it. That said, I have the Clinton cover at home, and will pick it up, or more accurately, 'sit down' with it soon.

You will be pleased to note that in the section regarding music education, Clinton has some very lucid things to say.
I'll happily ignore the My Funny Valentine reference for my own sanity.

A few years back, the Oxford Review (or whatever that's called) music issue had an interview with Clinton. Asked whose music he liked that would surprise people, he named Peter Brotzmann.
No, really. I'm sure there's a thread on it here somewhere.

Story i heard about Clinton. Probably apocryphal, but makes me laugh when I think of it.
As you know Allan Greenspan is a sax player and grew up playing with Stan Getz in high school.
Clinton apparently asked Greenspan to ask Getz's widow if he could play Stan's old horn.
She reportedly replied: "I will not let that MAN put his MOUTH on my husband's saxophone."
Which is amusing anyway because I also heard (also probably apocryhal) that Getz never kept a sax through more than a gig or two because he would sell it to buy smack, after scratching his name on it with a nail.
There are apparently numerous Mark VIs (or whatever he prefered to play) that show up on eBay, with the seller claiming it's Stan Getz's old horn.
Or maybe Stan's widow didn't like Clinton because she heard the same thing I heard -- that Clinton's favorite sax player is Zoot Sims.

Zoot's my favorite too.
I wonder if Billy Jeff could fix me up with an intern.

Actually, Clinton mentioned a Russian sax player as his current favorite.

Nah.
You wouldn't be interested, of course, but the lastest thing going in Washington are teenaged pages.
