I was delighted to see a thread on Jazz Corner with our friend Greg Holloway's name included.

Greg is a largely unheralded talent, both as a drummer and composer, a relatively rare combination. His compositions don't take a back seat to his considerable chops as a jazz drummer. And that's an unsolicited remark from another drummer.

My wife and I are privileged to have gotten to know Greg while he was serving in the Air Force at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska. He's not only a superb musician, he's an exemplary father and husband.

We were lucky enough to hear Greg perform live on a regular basis, so miss him terribly now that he's relocated to the east coast.

For more information on Greg's recordings, click here.

Hear great indie Jazz from Amarosa, Hidden Symmetry & More on Radio Free Jaazzzzz

Internet radio station Radio Free Jaazzzzz at http://www.artistlaunch.com/radiofreejaazzzzz is proud to present the latin based melodic jazz of Amarosa

Amarosa is Latin-funk based melodic Jazz band featuring the rich warm Flugal horn of Tony Carlucci and the rhythmic & melodic electric and acoustic guitars of Lou Barrtolomucci. Lou & Tony are two of Toronto's most highly regarded & versatile musicians. For many years trumpeter Tony Carlucci has been part of the studio and TV Scene in Toronto. As a top session player, he has performed live and in the studio with a variety of acts including Cory Hart, Percy Sledge, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Drifters, Alfie Zappacosta, and more. Tony connected with Lou Bartolomucci in the 80s to head up Synthetic Earth, a jazz-fusion group that were runners up in the Hennesey-Cognac Jazz Search competition held in Los Angeles. This led to the release of their first album on MCA. Since then, Tony has composed music for TV (the Discovery Channel & CTV) and film. Bartolomucci focused his efforts on jazz studies and on guitar & piano performances. Upon graduating from York University, Lou performed with and directed many Toronto based artists and has also worked Lou Christie & Gary US Bonds. Lou wrote the single "Hug You Hold You" recorded by Eria Fachin that received airplay in the U.S, Canada, and Europe. He also produced CDs by saxophonist Michael Massaro and Synthetic Earth. Lou has also composed music for feature films and TV shows on the Discovery Channel and CTV.

George Benson, Al Jarreau, & McCartney on Radio Free Jaazzzzz

George Benson and Al Jarreau have teamed up for a new CD release entitled "Givin' It Up" to be release on October 24th.

Hear cuts from the new CD on the Radiofreetunes.com stations

Tune to Radio Free Jaazzzzz at http://www.artistlaunch.com/radiofreejaazzzzz
their recording of the Miles Davis classic "Four" and a great new jazz ballad "All in Me"

Sir Paul McCartney can now be heard jamming with jazz legends George Benson and Al Jarreau on station Radio Free Tunes

http://www.artistlaunch.com/radiofreetunes.com

George and Al were recording together with Paul happened to be in the studio next door. He dropped in and asked if they could jam. The rest is now musical history. Here George Benson, Al Jarreau, and Paul McCarntey on Sam Cook's classic tune "Bring It on Home to Me"

Fred Martin who also appears on Radio Free Tunes was on hand to arrange the background vocals of Alethea Mills, and Chavonne

Radio Free R&B at http://www.artistlaunch.com/radiofreerandb features the songs "Breezin'" and "Give It Up for Love"

Givin' It Up is a dazzling harmonic convergence of superstars singer-guitarist-songwriter George Benson and vocalist extraordinaire-songwriter Al Jarreau. Friends and label-mates for over three decades, this recording marks the first time that the two artists have recorded together as equal partners. Both artists are multiple Grammy award winners with many gold and platinum selling hit recordings.

This much-anticipated 13-track recording features each of the stars on a new arrangement of one of the other's biggest hits – Jarreau adding lyrics to and singing Benson's signature instrumental smash "Breezin'," while the legendary jazz guitarist delivers a lovely instrumental version of the singer's eternally charming hit "Mornin'." Givin' It Up also includes delicious covers of Seals & Crofts' "Summer Breeze" and Hall & Oates' (and Paul Young smash) "Every Time You Go Away," as well as stunning new jazz vocal versions of the Miles Davis classics "Four" and "'Long Come Tutu."

Givin' It Up was recorded between April and June, 2006. Serendipitously, pop legend, Paul McCartney, happened to be in the studio next door during one session and dropped in to join Benson and Jarreau on an impromptu romp through Sam Cooke's "Bring it on Home to Me." Neo soul diva, Jill Scott, performs Billie Holiday's timeless "God Bless the Child." Rounding out the album is an instrumental take on John Legend's GRAMMY award-winning soul smash, "Ordinary People" and four new compositions, including a new Jarreau and Barry Eastmond composition, "Let it Rain," which features Patti Austin and Chris Botti.

An A-list of musicians appear on Givin' It Up: keyboardists Patrice Rushen, Rex Rideout and Herbie Hancock; bassists Marcus Miller, Abraham Laboriel and Stanley Clarke; guitarists Dean Parks, Ray Fuller and Michael Thompson; saxophonist Marion Meadows; and drummers Vinnie Colaiuta and Michael White.

========================================================
Also appearing on Radio Free Jaazzzzz are new releases from Boney James, Lee Ritenour, Jamie Davis, Marilyn Scott, the Soft Machine, Take 6

Are there any strings attached to the "25 free downloads"? I'd appreciate your ideas about this offer. Thanks.

You have to provide your credit card up front, but if you're diligent about canceling after 25 and within whatever time limit they might state, you're fine.
