democrat or republican test

does anyone know of an online democrat or republican test/quiz that shows where your views land in the political party spectrum? I found a couple, but both were very biased leaning one way or the other. This quest was brought on by my wife who accuses me to be way to the left, however, I feel like I'm to the left but more to the middle. you guys seem to know where things are. that's why I ask.

Aw...you don't need a test to determine this.

Here is a simple way to measure your political status:

If you don't believe every word Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh utter and if you don't worship the ground Ann Coulter walks on you are a flamin' wild-eyed, tree-huggin', baby killin', tax lovin', un-American Liberal traitor.

There is no middle, Moonra.

There is screaming eagle conservative vs. traitor to your country. That's it.

I'll try to make up a test for you right now. It probably won't be perfectly fair, but I'll do my best.

1. Do you think both small businesses and big corporations, if left alone and not hindered by regulations and red tape, will generally enrich not only their owners but their workers and the buyers of their goods?

2. Do you think individual charities are a better and more efficient way of distributing money to the poor, disabled, etc. than government programs?

3. Do you think the law should reflect the fact that real marriages can only be between a man and a woman?

4. Do you think that taxes--state, local and Federal are generally set too high?

5. Do you think that government workers are more likely to be inefficient and/or corrupt than private sector workers?

6. Do you think that the United States is not only richer than almost every other country in the world, but also more likely to be trying to do the right thing for all involved on the international stage?

7. Do you think that there is a Judeo-Christian background to this country that is important enough to our history and basic beliefs that it ought to be supported by U.S. laws where possible?

8. Do you think that, on balance, labor unions today do more harm than good?

9. Do you think that illegal aliens ought not to have any rights unless they're actively trying to cure the illegality of their status here?

10. Do you think that English should be the official language of the United States and no other languages should be spoken in American schools?

11. Do you think that, to the extent possible, public schooling should be privatized?

12. Do you think that the natural environment is more hearty and natural resources are more plentiful than is generally believed today and that most of the popular fears about both global warming and depletion of resources are somewhat unrealistic.

13. Do you believe that unborn children have an inalienable right to life that is violated when women have abortions?

14. Do you believe that both convicted criminals and those accused of violent crimes--including terrorists--are currently given too many rights, often at the expense of actual and possible victims?

15. Do you believe that both the mainstream media and the average college professor have a liberal bias today?

If you answer yes to eight or more questions, you should probably join the Republican Party.

4 yes for this civil libertarian type. An environmental question might be appropriately added too.

Thanks for the suggestion. I took it and added a couple more as well. I'm hoping it remains fair--if it was at all fair to begin with. I hope to hear from Monte and the other Repubs on that matter.

I don't think it matters, Walto...because you wouldn't know which ones I answered yes or no to.

That's the point, Goody. If less than a unanimous vote, it's critical to know which of Walto's 15 arbitrary questions received what response.

Dennis, my man! Now, will you please let us know how you really feel?

Walto's questionnaire just shows how difficult it is to pose unbiased questions.

You might be a Republican if....
you believe the greatest threats to the security of our nation are illegal aliens, the legalization of gay marriages, and horny Senate pages.

Help me out... "you might be a Republican if..."

There aren't any unbiased political questions and can't be because politics isn't objective and can't be. Many people seem to equate objectivity with their own views but of course nothing can be more subjective than political views.

Yeah, you forgot to ask

Are you in favor of unlimited government deficits and borrowing?

Are you in favor of an unfettered executive who is outside the constitution and law altogether (and the consequent, necessary curb on congressional power)?

Are you in favor of centralizing virtually all power in the executive?

Are you in favor of ignoring treaties with which you don't agree whenever it's convenient?

Are you in favor of lying to a population while seeking support to invade another country for highly questionable grounds, many of which have been proven ahead of time as being false?

Are you in favor of torture as state policy?

Are you in favor of incarcerating suspects without trial, evidence, or charges?

Are you in favor of first lying and then confessing your lying after someone inevitably reveals your dishonesty?

Are you in favor of cutting virtually every tax on the richest people in all human history?

Are you in favor of placing draftdodgers in charge of wartime decisionmaking?

Are you in favor of sending fathers and grandfathers into battle in the infantry?

Are you in favor of bombing city neighborhoods?

How about artillery?

Tanks?

And so forth.

Those are the type of questions I specifically tried to avoid. Stuff like, "Do you like having an idiot in charge of an incredible number of guns and bombs?" Etc.

That's the core of Democracy, in it's purest form.

When did that get lost in the shuffle??

By embracing Democracy, a Monarchy and other forms of authoritarian rule were supposedly rejected.

A form of government with no oversight is as far from the ideals of Democracy as a country can get.

WHAT HAPPENED??
