Violinist Kennedy scores hit with jazz foray

PARIS (Billboard) - The French connection is paying off for classical violinist Nigel Kennedy and his first album for EMI’s Blue Note imprint, "Blue Note Sessions."

According to Blue Note France, the album has shipped more than 100,000 units globally -- including 50,000 in France -- since rolling out across Europe during the first week of October. "Blue Note Sessions" will be released November 8 in Japan and January 9 in the United States.

Kennedy and his Polish jazz quintet launched a 13-date European tour on October 3
