You're all Invited!

So - the wedding

It's gonna be a little over a year from now...Who's coming? Sometime in May - near both of our birthdays (mine's the 17th- her's is the 25th)

I shouldn't be asking who's coming, 'cause we haven't decided on a location...Might be in Maine, might be in China - who the hell knows?

ANyway - I'm drunk and I'll talk to you guys later.....Where's Steve Reynolds?

Well, this response isn't exactly what I had in mind, to be perfectly frank.

While I'm glad that you seem to be fully committed to your betrothed, I'm somewhat concerned, Erik. From a fatherly/friendly point of view, don't you feel somewhat "stretched"?

Why are you (by your own words) "drunk" at 6:23pm? Is that cool/acceptable?

Erik has a better chance of getting married than of us ever seeing those CDs...

Get a grip and slow down a little. Is this the same girl that you met in a book store, a while ago?

As for the location of the nuptuals, I can guarantee that I'll be there if you decide that neither Maine, nor China is suitable and decide to see the Ice Fields, near me, in Alberta. If not, I'll be there in spirit only, wishing you both luck, from afar.

Ron,
why does there have to be a time constraint on getting drunk?

Congrats Erik!

Time constraint? On drinking, or getting "drunk"? Those are two entirely different issues to me. Being "drunk" has never been a badge of honor with me.

Making an announcement on the worldwide web that you're getting married and inviting folks to your wedding, followed by an announcement that your "drunk" before most have digested their dinner isn't exactly my idea of a recipe for a happy marriage. I hope that I'm wrong, and am not trying to be judgemental, despite the appearance to the contrary.

Where has the young lad been, anyway?

Obviously you guys haven't seen the new ad campaign being rolled out by the Beer Brewer's Amalgamated:

I think it's one of the clauses in the new "Homeland Security" manifesto, but, I could be wrong.

drink fair lad, celebrate
the impending vows, so stay up late
times will change after the wedding
and if drunk then, you won't share her bedding

and you know those things she now says are cute
about you, they will get the boot
and those friends of yours she doesn't like
man they'll be sent off on a hike

marriage changes things for good or bad
sometimes happy, sometimes sad
Im telling you this because I can
I married MADONNA but she turned into ROSEANNE

Ron, consider the time difference. You're in Alaska, he's in Maine. I have my BBS timestamps set to see all posting times in Paris time. Erik posted at 8:23 AM Paris time; that would be 2:23 AM Portland time!

Im still waiting for Erik's old girlfriend Jody's email address....and or phone number.

Personally, I think that if he were really in love with this new girl, and ready to get married, he would be happy to give his buddy Bo the digits.....

Maybe I could take Jody to the wedding?

You're right, Tom, the date stamp screwed me up. I'm still learning to tell time. Let's see, when the big hand's on the ...

Sorry, Erik. I retract my remark. My apologies.

Shrugs, I don't think there's ever a good time to "get drunk", but that's just me. Enjoying a drink & getting a buzz are different from losing control, which is pretty much what happens when you're "drunk". I don't enjoy being out-of-control, or being around others who are.
