Should Saturday US Mail Delivery Continue?

Should the USPO continue delivering personal mail on Saturdays? For me the answer would be no, and quitting would save a lot of money over time. Where I live, the PO is only open on Saturday mornings, when I'm working, so I've seen the difference it makes in my own life, waiting til Monday: None. No difference at all. I'd say they should keep moving it on weekends (as they do now) but close the local POs and personal delivery on Saturdays.

they seem to take Fridays off when delivering to me already, so continuing on Saturdays would be appreciated, yes.

My local post office no longer has package pick-ups for customers, so I have to travel to a special one further away. In addition, Saturday is the only day that many working people are able do these tasks.

They used to deliver mail several times a day, Monday - Saturday - now we’re lucky if we get it 4 days a week.

They should pick a weekday to close if they have to make cutbacks.

Some people argue that there should be major changes in the USPS, including privatization. Here's a National Review online article from 2005:
http://www.nationalreview.com/commen...0503070740.asp
William Henderson, the U.S. postmaster general from 1998 to 2001, wrote upon leaving that “what the Postal Service needs now is nothing short of privatization.” He even recommended an employee stock-ownership plan that “would motivate workers by allocating stock to them over time.”

Fuck no!

I sometimes don't get my Economist until Saturday. That at least gives me the weekend to cram before the next one arrives. And when you don't get it until Saturday, it's almost easy money that the new one will be there on Monday or Tuesday.

Mine often arrive on Saturday, too, but it doesn't bother me. Hell, I used to spend ten days a year on the Maine coast in the fall when the tourists had evacuated. The Times there was often two or three days behind. The only day it bothered me was the first morning after arriving, because I'd already read that edition the day before.

The only thing different for me, not having Saturday mail, is that the pile of bills, junk mail and catalogues on Monday is bigger than any other day. Nothing else is different at all.
