One of Jim Webb's supporters, Tom Stark, gets what he deserves here.

I don't think that Jim Webb has ever claimed to be writing material more commonly read by schoolgirls, such as Harlequin Romances or anything with a picture of Fabio on the cover.
From what I understand, Jim Webb is a serious author, well-respected in the literary commuity, as well as having his war-themed books in the collections recommended by the military.
He didn't write The Pet Goat or claim to have written any of the Shakespeares which President Bush claims to have read over the last year, along with finally getting around to his ninth-grade reading list.
WHEW!!

I think Rush Limbaugh has been reading too much Jim Webb. He apparently has been brainwashed by the liberals.

It's Mike Stark. He's a free-form Democratic "guerrilla warrior"; usually he makes life hell for right-wing radio talk show hosts.
Rollhead, whatsa matter witchu? Somebody's going to read this thread and believe you.
Folks, for every act that Jim Webb has portrayed in fiction, George Felix "Macaca" Allen has done a million worse things in real life.
VA-Sen is an important, winnable race. Jim Webb is part of the netroots slate at ActBlue; please throw him five or ten bucks (or more if you can)--

Well, at least President Bush has better things to do, if we are to believe the reports.
From what I hear, the President's time has been taken up, while soldiers and Iraqis are dropping like flies in Iraq, by bike-riding and reading " Shakespeares".
From The Pet Goat to Shakespeares.
That's quite a leap.
But, if he said it............it must be true.
I'm sure that there is more than one soldier who wishes that the Commander in Chief were physically leading the troops.
If he were leading him in the scatter-brained manner that he does everything else, they'd have mutinied by now and be at home with their families.
Instead, too many are dead.

Jim Webb is not a Republican, he just plays one on TV.
Just as long as he's got the (D) after his name, he's cool with me. For the moment, anyway. If he ever starts trying to legislate his actual beliefs, then I'll start screaming. Or, as Michael Kinsley says in a front-page story in today's NY Times Book Review, "The great flaw in American democracy has nothing to do with voting machines or lobbyists; it is the enormous tolerance for intellectual dishonesty."
I admit to being part of the problem. I no longer care much what any Democratic candidate has to say, because they're all lying anyway. I just want the Dems to control Congress so we can finally get around to waterboarding the assholes who got us into Iraq--and the assholes who've made fortunes off same. And maybe--just maybe--finding the least harmful way to extricate ourselves from Iraq.
In the interest of fair and balanced opinionating, I believe all the Republican candidates are lying, too. Only George Bush is telling the truth, and only when he slips back into "staying the course" which is an admission that he has no fucking clue about getting out of this mess he created. Hell, give Nancy Pelosi a shot. She can't do any worse than Boy George.

In the current political climate, I agree with this. Any vote for a Democrat at this point is a vote for divided government, which is not ideal but is better than having Republicans control every branch of government.

No!
Your attorney must have absolutely no connection with this, Scott!
I also don't think that some folks are automatically smart or stupid, but I'm indebted to those who have provided links to possibilites which prove otherwise.

Doc -- It's true, though, that this society is apparently willing to live with an astonishing lot of lies.
Yesterday there was a paid attack ad directed at Bernie Sanders, in the local daily rag. It was an outright, blatant lie, accusing Bernie, back in the 80s, of having organized and led a long series of demonstrations and civil disobedience actions at what was then a GE plant in Burlington (has since been an alphabet of one defense contractor after another, no one keeps track anymore ...), which plant makes the famous gatling guns used in planes and helicopters, that can fire up to 6000 rounds/minute. They were selling them to El Salvador at the time. I watched them used against people on a mountain across a valley from one I was on, one day in ES. I was very glad to be on the other side of that valley.
Anyways, the point: Sanders absolutely loathed direct action/CD activities and loathed even more the people who did them. It was the original source of the longstanding animosity between he and me. The truth is that Sanders, when anywhere near one of those demos, would be on the *cop's* side of the line. (He was mayor then.) And any time he had anything to say about the demos, it would be a hectoring lecture aimed at us for fucking with the working class (which I guess he thought didn't exist in El Salvador or something, I don't know).
This is documented history. There are newspaper articles from back then, tv film, hundreds of witnesses, and so forth. The ad was simply a blatant lie, by an anonymous group "Friends of GE." Give it up already.
Anyway, I have to write a letter correcting this lie. Hopefully it will be printed before the election, not that it will matter, since Sanders is in the Senate, the voting is a formality at this point.
I just can't stand it that outright, purposeful lying for political advantage is now an accepted practice in this country.

This Virginia resident will be voting for Webb. Allen having a noose and a confedrate flag in his office.Using a racial term towards someone that is equivalent to calling someone like me "nigger" won't fly in my hood.Peace and all that.
