My kind of Democrat---Jon Tester

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/13/us...rtner=homepage

This guy is exactly what I thought being a Democrat was all about. His grandparents sound alot like mine. I remember my Grandfather saying the same kinds of things to me. My father was a Nixon-lovin' Republican, but I chose my grandfather's party because they seemed to be about lookin' out for the little guy.

As a small child, I remember Grampie asking me, "Are ye a Republican or are ye a Democrat?"

I said that I didn't know, "What's Daddy?"

"Why, your fathah, he's a god-damned Republican, that's what he is," Gramp replied. At the time, I sided with Daddy and proclaimed I was a Republican. I must have been 8 or so. Ten years later, I voted for the first time as a registered member of my grandfather's party.

I'm going to be watching Jon Tester. I wish him luck in serving the people of Montana well and hope that Washington doesn't eat him alive.

Cookie, that was a real puff piece. One has to go elsewhere to find out how he'd actually vote on issues. Tester is a farmer who supports farm subsidies. Boooooo!

So, you like his haircut or what?

He ain't much of a Democrat, but he'll do. Of course I'm going to have to go on up to Washington DC and hit him upside the head with a phone book whenever he feels those protectionist urges....(With this new Democratic majority, I think I may need a whole truckload of phonebooks...)
