Angry Label Bleu -- Avoid!!

The CD arrived today. I still recommend using other vendors for Label Bleu CDs due to their poor customer service.

My original message is included below in italics.

About three weeks ago I ordered a CD from the website for Label Bleu. (www.label-bleu.com) Since then I have sent three emails to the label asking when my CD will ship but have not received a response. They have charged my credit card. The CD has not arrived (perhaps understandable due to int'l shipping).

Therefore, my recommendation is to avoid ordering directly from Label Bleu due to their terrible customer service. If you want to buy Label Bleu CDs, you might want to check out Cadence or JazzLoft instead.

Ummmm, gonzo, you may want to do a Google search. Steve Coleman is available at CD Universe, among other places.

Unless we're talking about a different Steve Coleman, of course.

Three weeks is not unusual for international shipments. Unfortunately, France is not known for a culture of customer service...

This is another situation in which I seriously wonder whether we'll ever hear again from guy.

I hope I'm wrong.

I don't know Label bleu. Never bought from them.

You can buy label bleu from Les Allumés du Jazz website (a lot of other labels, french free jazz mostly) : http://www.allumesdujazz.com/

Some other Mail orders with excellent service :-)
Orkhestra (free jazz, jazz, improv) : http://www.orkhestra.fr/
Metamkine (improv, experimental) : http://www.metamkine.com/

Yes of course, they're sending the stuff to Paris, Texas!
Or maybe Label Bleue moved to the Far East.

Edit:
I thought Guy had Paris as location. May be not - or he has changed it later on.

I've purchased many a CD directly from Label Bleu. It took maybe 2-3 weeks but I've never had a problem.

I think one thing the internet has done is alter our perceptions of time. Used to be nearly anything ordered came with a "four to six weeks for delivery" clause. Waiting that long now seems like forever (one of the reasons for what I predict will be the demise of the "record club," which has failed to make the adjustment). Domestically in the US, I expect delivery within a week. Ayler Records in Sweden, though, has often been faster than than regular mail delivery within the US. Still, it has altered our perceptions of time. Sometimes when I'm ripping or burning something it seems like it's taking forever, when actually a complete CD takes about the same length of time as would listening to two sides of a 78.

Indeed, today some people complain when shipping takes 2 days instead of one as promised.

Overseas shipments still take a lot of time, and it varies a lot. I make more than 20 US orders per year and I always choose airmail. The fastest shipment (by an Ebayer from New York) arrived after just 8 days, the slowest took 5 weeks (must have been forgotten somewhere), with an average of 2 weeks.

I disagree. This is an issue of bad customer service and I'm simply making the information public in case somebody else decides to order from them.

People are welcome to avoid me if they wish.

Guy

bullshit, you're going out of your way to tarnish a label's reputation because they didn't send you a mail back, to the point of posting on this site for the first time. everyone else who's posted on any of your threads reports no problems in dealing with them, so again, BOYCOTT GUY!

Sand--don't fuck with us, give it up! A foto of Bunky Green without more info about this cd and where one gets it is sadistic.

Label Bleu, right? There's another thread going on here about the difficulty getting Label Bleus. I clicked on one French site mentioned (allumesdujazz) and there's supposed to be a way to change the text from French to English, but it didn't work for me.

I don't know how big the above distributor/seller is, but if it is a smaller company...well..sometimes, life interferes.

As an eBay seller, I had to face various problems. Usually, I would ship in a very timely manner, but now and then, something would occur and some item would take me weeks to ship and/or the item got caught in a slow down at the post office.

Most people are not rying to cheat people or give bad service. If someone gets sick, it can really slow things up.

Qnd way too many people fail to realize that it is much faster and easier to electronically pay for something online than it is to physically get it to you after you have paid for it.

Today - I am sick - and someone's tape is not going out. And that's life.

Man, you gotta relax a little and enjoy some music or something

You posted this little boycott tantrum on at least another jazz board.

You'd better stay home. There is a big, dangerous world out there with garlic, jazz labels and what not.

I do a lot of internaional ordering and it´s not unusual to have to wait between 2 to 4 weeks for the cd´s to arrive.
Sometimes they arrive after a couple of days too, so you never know.

I'm enjoying Romano/Sclavis/Texier's Carnet de Routes very much -- it's somewhat reminiscent of the Thomas Chapin trio, but with more of an "old world" vibe and less of the Chapin trio's irreverant humor.
