Scott Walker -- The Drift

I was staying at my bloke's place in Greenpoint a couple months ago. He writes for TONY so he's got tons of new discs all over the place. I had about two hours to burn so showered, rolled a hog's leg and put in this disc since I heard a bit about it, no prior exposure to Walker in any form. Mother of God. Hanging out his window looking at the gardens below and all the Poles reeling in their laundry. I'm not sure I could ever listen to it again, at least not for a long time but what a remarkable experience, an area I've certifiably zero exposure to. I know Walter loves this.

Jesssssseeee. . . . . .are you listening?

My album of the year--by a pretty wide margin.

I also think it's pretty great, but don't have much trouble relistening to it. Good loud. Thought I certainly don't bother playing it while my wife's home, and don't play it too loud around my 2 year old.

Great album. I plan to listen to it about once a year.

I'm not trying to be ostentatious in that I can't listen to it very much, Nate. In fact I've listened to it once.

He reminds me of Bryan Ferry, but as if he had been alone in a basement for a few years. I agree, pretty amazing stuff. I wasn't prepared for "The Escape".

I wasn't commenting on your post; I was completely serious! Well, maybe I'll pull it out for another listen--that'll make it a total of 2-1/2 times in 2006.

The Drift would definitely make my top 10 albums of the year. However, it's not one I'd listen to more than a couple of times a year. Everytime I go to put it on I change my mind. I also bought Scott 4 at the same time which I've played much more.
