What are you NOT listening to?

JC being a place with some very opinionated folks who know what they like and DISlike, curious to see the who/what/why? of those that you're NOT interested in persuing for reasons of dislike for any reason, unsatisfying personal history with groups/artists/styles or any reason whatsoever...

I'm not listening to eai. Nothing against it, it just doesn't meet my criteria at the moment.

I'm not listening to Joe Maneri. I saw him once in concert and that was enough.

I am not listening to a lot of lowercase. Most of what I've heard is boring to me.

Unless it's straight ahead, I'm not listening!

Sorry, Reynolds. . .

Same here.

I have a lot of non straight ahead (not that there's anything wrong with that) and find I am rarely listening to it but
really loving the rest.

I have been wondering about the significance if any.

Being blessed with a steady & sometimes large stream of incoming CD's to listen to, [ besides and over and above the ones I seek out for myself], I find myself these days NOT listening all the way through to recordings that don't keep my interest strong. Doesn't matter what the 'style' might be, if the disc doesn't have a compelling quailty to it, I don't finish listening to it. I might browse through it again, but not spend any more time with them generally.

Now if it's a project I'm working on, a review or an upcoming interview, I'm there for the entire show, obviously.

I'm also not listening to Joe Maneri. Sure, I've only heard one recording, but it was Three Men Walking in no apparent direction.

I listen to...what I listen to.

I make no distinction; if it's good, I'll keep listening to it.

If not...I won't.

The In a Silent Way Sessions box set.

Only because I don't own it.

If I did I would. A lot.

But...$$$

(Hey, this was kind of like a haiku!)

Dubya stump speeches.

The majority of today's pop. If I hear one more mechanized beat I'll explode.

Dennis Miller rants.

Smooth jazz radio (easy target, but it's true).

WTOP-AM traffic reports (DC denizens know what I'm talking about). They seem to only cover Northern VA and Montgomery County, MD.

The Clash, I tried just to give props to Joe Strummer, but I didn't get it in '79 and I still don't. Maybe I need to be British?

MSNBC. They gone right of Atilla the Hun.

Abba. One of my co-workers plays them constantly at work. I didn't get them in '79 and I still don't. Maybe I need to be Swedish?

Baba Wawa interviews.

Iraqi Minister of Information news conferences.

Get it. It's the cheapest of the Miles boxes, and it's well worth forgoing a few CD purchases to get. Hearing the original cuts of the material that made it onto the album was an eye opener. Cool stuff, especially disk 2, IMHO.

I'm not listening to Freddie Hubbard's Red Clay, because Mrs. Tanager didn't like it that much and told me to turn it off and put on some Hindi music.

Darryl, I dig/get the Clash (I know I dig them, I *think* I get them), so it's not a British thing. I can't tell you what it is, just what it's not.

West coast cool when my wife is around -- she says doesn't dig it, makes her feel like she's in some outdated b&w 50s mystery movie. (We're taking a long drive to Sedona/ Grand Canyon during Easter break and are planning what music to take along.)
