Vision Festival XII

The dates for the 2007 Vision Festival (XII) were recently announced.
June 19-24 @ Orensanz. I've not heard anything about a lineup except that Lotte Anker will be playing with Craig Taborn and Gerald Cleaver as part of a tour.

Bill Dixon will apparently be the featured artist, according to a call for advertisements for the brochure.

From Jessica Pavone's website...

June 23rd - Mary Halvorson and Jessica Pavone
@ The Vision Festival
www.visionfestival.org

I am pretty excited already, honestly. This duo is fantastic and Bill Dixon is one of my favorites. I also hope that a Little Huey gig is in the offing. They haven't played stateside since 2005's festival appearance, if I recall.

The schedule is approaching finality and it looks very good. I can't reveal anything, but I think folks should be pleasantly surprised. The schedule will be out next week.

I'd love to see Moholo, Fred Anderson, Eddie Gale and the Dixon tribute. But June will suck for me since in July a new governor comes to office here in the Yucatan, and me and my lawyer coworkers could lose our jobs or be transferred. So it's not a good idea to take vacations on June...

Things may change, though. Enjoy, everyone!

If you're transferred to Puebla state (especially Coatzingo or Tulcingo del Valle) you're half way to Brooklyn.

I wish I could say yes, Pete. I could really use an urban hit and some time off.

I'll be there. BTW, that Anker/Taborn/Cleaver group is not on the schedule. Don't know where that info came from...

Came from me, via the band a few months back. Apparently it didn;t work out. But I'd be much hipper to the facts if I lived in Eugene

Pete, that would be a no. We're on thin ice, indeed, financially. We'll be doing well if we get of here with our shirts and enough bread for a smaller place. There's no wiggle room in the check book at all. I haven't been buying any records or going out, or anything like that, since early last September.

I'd love to but it's just not in the picture.

Every year for the past few years I have told myself that I am going to make an effort to get down for at least one night. This year is no exception. When the full schedule is announced I will take a look and see whether any night will be worth the effort of coordinating the logistics to get down. Preferably, one of the weekend nights will be strong and there will be less reason for me not to get down.

Pat-

If only. The only things we've had here in Eugene this year in the realm of the Vision Fetival were an Amiri Baraka + David Murray duo, Wayne Horvitz' Sweeter Than The Day and a Nate Wooley performance that was only fifteen minutes long and the day before Baraka/Murray. Jazz writ large is OK; Dave Holland, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron and Bill Frisell have all been through, but this part of the country is pretty dry as far as the more out stuff goes. I will be in NYC next week to see Joe McPhee and Roy Campbell, Jr.'s TAZZ at the Stone, should be pretty good.

Eric

The website still says the schedule will be released "next week." Like a stopped clock, that statement will eventually have been true.

that's not really the Ganelin Trio per se, it's Ganelin with two different musicians.
