Ponty enthralls Bangalore audience
Jazz maestro Jean Luc Ponty held a breathless audience on Saturday night in Bangalore as his music reverberated in a packed hall.
Ponty is said to be the unchallenged master of violin in the world of jazz. "The standing ovation he received speaks volumes about how much we enjoyed the show," said a fan.
Ponty's style throws together elements of jazz, classical, and rock and its this versatility that brought him together with India's L Subramanaim more than a decade ago.
Ponty then visited India in 2003 for the first time and toured and performed across the country with Subramaniam. Indian music, Ponty says, has a lot to give.
"Indian musicians when experimenting with fusion must remember to keep a portion of their own music. It gives character to it. My music at some level always has a European influence," Ponty said.
And as Ponty moved to Goa for his last performance with his band in this tour, music loving Bangalore said goodbye with a heavy heart.
