Emmett Williams RIP

from Spiegel on-line

Emmett Williams gestorben

Williams nahm an Maciunas' Gründungs-Happening in Wiesbaden teil.

Sein autobiografisches Werk "My Life in Flux - and Vice Versa" wurde 1992 veröffentlicht.

I don't mean to be prudish or anything....but could we please confine our posts to a language we all understand.

I mean, as incredibly sensitive as I am to our German counterparts....I'm kinda figuring most of us here speak English.

I dunno.

Call me spoiled.

Forty-nine thousand one hundred and forty-six words. Or only six. Six words of Gertrude Stein - when this you see remember me - applied with rubber stamps, a color assigned to each word. The six words of the first variation are doubled in the second, these twelve become twenty-four in the third, forty-eight in the fourth, and so on, until in the end, with twenty-four thousand five hundred and seventy-six, the words fuse, and the ikon and the logos are one...

Some readers may find the development of the variations unpoetic. I refer such conscientious objectors to Diter Rot's experiment to determine whether cactus grows better in camembert or potato salad. Whatever the result, the search leads us out of the desert.
