Did Brian Recover?

I am worried again. Either he is sick or his feelings were hurt over his stupid, I mean fantastically fun puzzle contest.

Aw shucks, I'm OK. It'll take more than salmonella-infested PB to lay this old Polack low.

I envy him. I wish I had an obsession like that.

I spent the last couple of months collecting CDs. I think my wife is going to divorce me. Better that I were working crossword puzzles.

As for my saxophone obsession, after four solid years of practice (and only missing a day or two at it in more than 1200 days) I am about the level now of a mediocre high school player.

Whatever the puzzle contest outcome, I am sure that Brian is the world's greatest crossword puzzle player among EAI experts.

Not all of us can stake that claim.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? You'd think that--if anything--I could lay claim to that distinction. Well, it's not so clear cut because of this guy:

Joshua Kosman, who writes for the SF Chronicle. While I may have it a tad over him with regard to EAI specifically, he's way ahead of me in related contemporary classical. He also writes better. Worse, he usually beats me in the tourney (I think he finished 16th last year to my 26th). Worse still, he's a great guy.

I think your EAI superiority, however slight, still gives you all-around honors over the Kozmanster.

Would you like me to kill him?
