Dr. Phil -- Fraud, Hack or Just Plain Miserable?
Every time I see this guy, I feel like throwing something at the tv.
Argh. Who put this clown on?
Does anyone believe him?
What idiot would actually want to go on his show?
Thank God my tolerance level for him is so low that I switch to something better in ten seconds, like Hannity & Colmes or Gilligan's Island.
Seriously, who did this guy sleep with to get a job?

I've never watched the cat, but it sounds like you may be suffering from your third choice.

It seems that Dr. Phil dishes out a good serving of common sense, wrapped up in Texas style humor. He is, after all, on television, and is expected to have a bit, if not a whole lot of show business quality in his daily dose of "Get over yourself", and "Get real". I think he's oftentimes pretty funny, this along with giving out some realistic and needed advise. It's entertainment, not rocket science, but one does see help being given and often times, to all appearances, his advice has worked for some.

You seem to be forgetting what RBS likes to do "onstage".

Do you consider women who are at home, raising their children, doing ALL the household chores, unemployed, simply because they don't bring a paycheck home?
Her assigned duties usually include a husband who, because his wife is unemployed thinks that she does nothing all day, but maybe watch Dr. Phil.
Apparently elves come in at night and keep the house spotless.
So he does nothing around the house, getting waited on hand and foot.
Many men still think that if they hoist their buttocks off the sofa, having been at their job all day, they are helping their wife with HER chores.
Lord help her if she doesn't praise him lavishly for any little thing he does.
And, don't get me started on women who, as I and thousands of others did and do, hold full-time paid jobs, as well as doing all the things mentioned earlier with no help from their husbands.
Just being at home, Monte, doesn't mean that the woman has no job, which is what being unemployed generally is understood to mean.
She just doesn't get paid.

Fer christs sake, particia. You know what Monte meant.
If you are not gainfully employed in the workforce, you are unemployed. Simple as that. There are no nefarious connotations involved in saying that.

A roll reversal oftentimes is too funny as men are overwhelmed with what it is women have always done, while women are able to take off and soar; this in positions oftentimes held by only men - even in many tasks usually considered too strenous for women.

Dr. Phil -- Fraud, Hack or Just Plain Miserable?
I vote hack.
Shamelessly pedestrian and MOR psycho-babble at best.
He's the Rachael Ray of psychology.

Speaking of Dr. Phil, has anyone read his wife's book, "Inside My Heart - Choosing To Live With Passion And Purpose?"
My daughter received a copy, along with the other women in her boyfriend's family for Christmas.
Erin was touched by the gift, from her future mother-in-law, but unenthusiastic about the pedestrian quality of the text and the viewpoint expressed by Mrs. Dr. Phil.
I haven't read it.
Has anyone?
What do you think?
