Blog Snot

A new term!

And I just love the connotations here....blogs offer nothing more than somebody's verbal discharge.

They don't pass themselves off as anything more than opinions.

Opinion passed off as fact.

It has been continuously posted on this BBS as evidence and the web is creating a world of blog junkies.

I'm thinking there is a danger here relative to real life fact finding.

Aw hell, I'm no fan of blogs at all. But they are just as consistent and reliable as corporate media outlets. Some are good, some are shit.

Many blogs have absolutely nothing to do with politics or news, per se. And, they can be very informative, entertaining, artful and worthwhile.

Here are a couple of prime examples, close to home.

I guess when Steve Smith writes about music for the NY Times or Time Out it's "news" but when he does it on his blog it's snot.

Goody is put off by the word "blog", so he's convinced himself that blogs pass off opinion as fact.

Either that or he feels that anything that passes off opinion as fact infringes on his important role here.

So, are you posting from your classroom, Goody? Are the students watching?

Here's a blog which may be right up your alley (pun intended).

Here's another for you. S'not difficult to find some cool blogs, actually.

Strange as it may seem....we teachers are actually allowed break time these days.

Amazing, isn't it?

OK.

Am I speaking Greek here?

My original point was "blog snot" is a new/cool term.

Later, I was asked why I have a problem with blogs and my response was they are opinions passed off as fact.

Tell me, why is it Ron that you take it upon yourself to find some reason why I should think your positioning on my opinion, on any subject you care to name, should somehow change my opinion? So it's cigar blogs now, is it?

Do you know how insulting that is? Really, Ron...do I give a damn about somebody else's blog about something you already know I purchase? Please.

I mean, you do this to me on a regular basis, Ron. Is it at all possible for me to maintain a position on a given issue without first consulting you on its merit?

Once again, Goody, you completely misread my intentions.

I'm not alone in this process, either.

If it's easier for you, put me on Ignore . . . until you decide I'm OK again, at least.

Out.
