How the CIA used a fake sci-fi flick to rescue hostages in Iran

Great article.

Great story, mone, though I'm a little disappointed that the Zelazny book never got filmed. He's one of my favorite sci-fi authors.

A bit of truth on either side, but it highlights how with differences in emphasis you can change who the heros are in a historic event.

Exactly what I was thinking, Claude.
I guess we seem like nit-pickers, but if Americans are involved in any way at all, they almost never mention anyone else who was there as well, doing stuff to make the heroism happen and the results be achieved.
For example, if you watch American-made war movies, apparently the U.S. fought alone, bringing peace and freedom to Europe and the world in WWII.
My dad and his seven brothers in the army overseas were just bystanders, if that.

We're used to being airbrushed out of historical events, darlin'.
