Valle, Lüdemann&Keita at Leverkusen

Ramon Valle and Hans Lüdemann, Aly Keita at Leverkusen
This morning as a part of JazzamRhein a really nice summer event took place at Leverkusen 'Schloss Morsbroich'.
First set Ramon Valle played solo. For me, a non extert in cuban influence in jazz, it was a high level introduction how he can bring in african ( maybe cuban) elements into roots of jazz playing or let me say blues feeling patterns. How gentle, how filled with poetry he let the notes come to our ears. This music reached my heart no doubt without circumstances allthough bringing nothing 'new' to me. It was easy for me to calculate the next tones, but what counts is the bridge to the blues that always brings me in a good condition, I mean I felt myself very well hearing this fragil slow motion maybe timeless music.
Second set Hans Lüdemann piano and Aly Keita balafon again pointed to the african roots. Playing as a duo they gave us beside the 'Trio Ivoire' themes a few new compositions especialy prepared to bring in the dialog of their instruments. It sounded very african, very world music like and seemed to me to be a high grade musical conversation of two equivalent musicians.
It was very hot at this open-air concert, but the therefor 'few' listeners gave a lot of applause to thank the musicians. ( Puh, it's hot summer here )
Maybe PeteC brings me on a latintrip, Ramon Valle seems a good one to begin with.
