Nothing like choosing to attack against overwhelming odds. Must be some mighty stupid attackers. For one thing, they got caught. Gotta be pretty stupid to get caught by the authorities in this here great land.

Be kind of like attacking a dreadnaught with a single-shot .22 from a rowboat.

On the other hand, we've learned to take what we read with a few pounds of salt if not thought.

Six Islamic Militants Charged With Plotting To Attack Soldiers At Fort Dix In New Jersey

"If these people did something, then they deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law," said Sohail Mohammed, a lawyer who represented many of the detainees. "But when the government says 'Islamic militants,' it sends a message to the public that Islam and militancy are synonymous.

"Don't equate actions with religion," he said.
And Hudson Boy has gone even further; he's dropped "militants" altogether--

That's the lack of initiative that would send PW into a collective frenzy.

I note we've settled into a pattern of equally distributing posts. That would certainly bring a tear to PW's eye.

Christie said one of the suspects worked at Super Mario's Pizza in nearby Cookstown and delivered pizzas to the base.

I am guessing these were just sausage pizza delivery men who claimed that they were going to (give) gas (to) as many soldiers at Fort Dix as possible.

They are probably already down at Club Gitmo.

C'mon, Monte. Everyone knows that great victory for Islam was perpertrated by Mossad and the CIA. This Fort Dix thing is probably just more of the same. The neocons are still trying to discredit the peaceful religion of Islam and take away our freedom.

It seems that you're more likely to get worked up about vandalised cars than civilian deaths.

I'm most likely to get worked up about fundamentalist Muslims. I'm touchy.

Might be good to calm down a bit and recall that the base wasn't attacked. The FBI was alerted by a civilian and managed to get two informers into the circle, which has amateur written all over it, right there.

Might's well recall the Miami thought crime crowd, too, while we're at it. You'll notice that one rose and sunk in the news almost over night.

A little calmness and attention to the facts helps the brain work in a more effective manner.

But when did that ever make points here?

I think one can distinguish between a theoretical discussion and the subjective experience of actual individuals. I'm sure for the person whose car has been burnt, it would be a significant loss. They might be a Royal voter or an abstainer, on a low wage, and might even be sympathetic to the viewpoint of the rioters. This loss of property is not in itself something to celebrate.

However, there is also clearly a large section of the French population which feels that the country's 'democratic ideals' are a sham, and that they are socially excluded and subject to the violence of a police force which exists solely to defend the social hierarchy and protect private property. Thus they take out their frustration by destroying the form of property most obviously visible in the streets. This is a social problem, not a personal one. Unfortunately, rioting only tends to reinforce the power of the police, by providing fuel for the populist media image of unruly immigrant 'scum'.

P.S. In answer to your question on the other thread, I have neither a car nor a drivers licence, but this is made possible by the fact that Southern England has a passably efficient public transport system (although it has been semi-privatised in a predictably incompetent manner).

I should think that if their militancy is in the name of Islam, they're Islamic Militants. If they're fighting for women's rights or some other non-Islamic issue, then they're militants who happen to be Islamic.

"I'm doing it in the name of Allah."

Allah, Allah, I think I recognize that name.

Good point, Pete. Despite what their lawyer might say, if they equate their actions with their religion, then that's what it is.

52,000 people died from walking, rollhead?

I thought walking was good for you.

As long as you're not walking in the Poconos where those guys were practicing with live ammo, that is.

Yea, you can't be too careful walking. You never know those known terrorists, Laurel and Hardy, might drop a piano on you.

Yes, but wouldn't your death be attributed to something other than walking, like a falling object? Sorry, nobody actually dies from walking, rollhead. I understand the point you were trying to make with the graphic, but that's a meaningless statistic.

YOu don't think it depends on where you walk?

You're blaming walking on a ledge for falling? Next thing you'll be blaming cigarettes for cancer.

The graphic claims the deaths were from "walking down the street", nothing more. Is it somehow safer to walk up the street?

Either way, I'd like to know which street caused all those deaths, so I can avoid it!

The number of deaths while walking down the street is logically equivalent to the deaths while smoking a cigarette, also irrelevant and unrelated to the risk of death from lung cancer.
