a best friend lost

not sure why I am posting this - maybe for a catharsis of sorts

my best friend in the world from the age of around 13 - 22 took his own life this past wednesday.

he was always stronger than me - hadn't talked with him in years - but I can't believe how hard this is for me....

he hung himself in the park where we used to go camping with our small group of close friends) in the summers of my high school /college age (some of the happiest times of my life)

I also don't know if I will respond to comments here (or even open this thread again) - just that I had a need to say something here to some of my best friends

peace and blessings

I was sorry to read about your friend. I can imagine how torn up I would be to learn that any of my close friends had done the same. Hang in there.

Steve, my condolences.

Try to remember the good times you had together... he must have been thinking about those good times when he chose that particular spot to leave this mortal world. You were with him in the end, spiritually, if not physically.

You will probably find yourself wondering stuff like, "What if I had called more often?" or "Is there anything I could have done?" No matter what you think, understand that there was probably nothing you could have done. A tragedy has occurred. Crank up some tunes you guys used to listen to and remember him. That's the best you can do for him now.

This painful topic reminds me... I have to call my old childhood buddy Brian... it's been years since I last talked to him... you would think the best man at my wedding would get a phone call every now & then. Thanks for making me think of Brian again Steve.

Later,
Kevin

Such a tragedy. Nothing you could have done. He wanted to go, for his own reasons. You'll probably never know what they were, so you must move on.
My deepest sympathy.

Steve, I experienced a similar feeling of loss when my best friend took his life 25 years ago.

Hang in there, my friend.
