What Was Your Last ECM Purchase/s?
Azimuth '85 (John Taylor/Kenny Wheeler/Norma Winstone)
Got this gem yesterday in a record store that specializes in ecm records. it's a very nice early outing from the trio which feature mostly john taylor compositions. Im liking Taylor's flowing lyrical lines and he sets up Wheeler in his throbbing high and low registers. Winstone, as always, breath life into the compositions, accentuating dreamy-like sounds that floats above the two. a very nice record over-all.
i'm still reeling from Keith Jarrett's 'Sun Bear Concerts' and 'Complete Live At The Blue Note' Box sets which i purchased a month or two ago, the former a very fascinating representation of his early solo piano outings, not too flashy nor percussion like but on a more inventive but less intense approach. it's a must have for fans of his solo piano recordings.

The latest Sclavis, which has been underwhelming though some of it is growing on me.

I think it was the Mark Feldman quartet with John Taylor, Anders Jorman and Tom Rainey. I thought Taylor's work with Feldman was really strong on a few of the cuts, but I haven't really given it an extensive listening.

David Torn - Prezens
Enjoying it, though I'm a bit skeptical of Torn's decision to sprinkle shorter solo-ish pieces amongst the group pieces. I might have preferred separate albums of each.

Jeez, it's been awhile: either the Jarrett trio's The Out-of-Towners, or the Wasilewski Trio disc.

Wonderful introduction to a very engaging young composer, and a rare and welcome listen to the criminally under-recorded Perry Robinson.

I hadn't really thought about this, but the majority of my ECM collection is on vinyl instead of CD. The last ECM I bought on CD was the Terje Rypdal Rarum collection, and for the most part the ECM on CD I have are imports I never previously owned until online purchasing became the norm for me. I wonder to what degree that is the case with others here - regarding 70s-80s ECMs, have you found yourselves more inclined to keep the vinyl instead of replacing them on CD?

Making a guess from memory alone: Anouar Brahem -- Le Pas Du Chat Noir .
Which I love.

I received these 3 at about the same time:
Anouar Brahem "Le Voyage de Sahar"- like this one a lot, but not as much as "Thimar".
Eberhard Weber "Yellow Fields"- spinning this one for the first time as I write this, sounds great.
Egberto Gismonti "Infancia"- initial impression of this one is that I don't like it as much as some of his other stuff, e.g. "Danca Das Cabecas"

The Gurdjieff disc? Isn't it supposed to be one of Jarrett's worst?

It's exactly what I expected it to be. The music of Gurdjieff.
So I wasn't disappointed in the least.

A New Series disc from 1987, Thomas Demenga plays JS Bach & Heinz Holliger, which had clearly been sitting unwanted in the shop for quite some time. Not popped it in the machine yet.
Last one before that was Rolf Lislevand's 'Nuove Musiche' which is very nice.
Re the earlier query about upgrading from vinyl to CD, those that I bought on vinyl (and I even bought some last summer) are of such quality that, if looked after, they keep their 'shine' such that it's only with the recent death of my turntable that I have had to consider CD upgrades.

Yellow Fields is a glorious recording . . . one of my favorites from that era.
Eberhard's appearances with Gary Burton, Jan Garbarek and Ralph Towner are also first rate.

Nothing for awhile.
Last two were Tomasz Stanko- Lontano after seeing him live and Keith Jarrett-Sun Bear Concerts. I bought the 6 cd box to replace my 10 lp box, which I gave away.

Gary Burton Quartet - Passengers (1976)

Ralph Towner - Solstice (1974)

My last two were:
Motian/Frisell/Lovano, Time and Time Again
John Abercrombie Quartet - The Third Quartet
I've also been recently catching up on Trygve Seim, picking up Sangam, The Source, and Different Rivers.

I'm sure you won't regret these purchases.
If you do, I'll buy them from you, since I only have them on vinyl at this point.

Probably the first Evan Parker Electroacoustic Ensemble album, when it came out. 2000?
