Tickets are now on sale for the 13th annual Vail Jazz Festival Aug. 31-Sept. 3 at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa.
The festival features jazz musicians performing over 24 hours of music over the Labor Day Weekend. This year lineup includes The Clayton Brother’s Quintet, Taylor Eigsti Trio, Matt Wilson’s Arts & Crafts, Rickey Woodard’s Four Brothers & Others, Mile High Chapter Choir and VJF Workshop All-Stars.
“This year’s festival will once again feature several of the rising stars of jazz,” Robin Litt, executive director of the Vail Jazz Foundation, said. “Like Taylor Eigsti, the 22-year old two-time Grammy nominated pianist who has been performing since he was 8 years old, and Brandon Lee, former Vail Jazz Workshop trumpeter, who has just graduated from Juilliard and released his first CD as a leader will join veteran jazz performers including John Clayton, Steve Nelson, Herlin Riley and Matt Wilson.”
New this year, the foundation will honor local jazz performer and educator Tony Gulizia as a part of the festival’s opening night with a pre-concert wine and cheese reception from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31. Gulizia, who can be seen playing jazz in the Vail Valley at Grouse Mountain Grill, Kelly Liken and the Cascade, directs and teaches the Vail Jazz Foundation’s Jazz Goes to School program, which is presented to all fourth and fifth graders in Eagle County.
“We are thrilled to honor Tony Gulizia who is an outstanding musician, educator and community leader. We are extremely fortunate to have Tony and his music in our community,” Litt said.
