It's has to do with much more than religion. He's the most conservative of the big named players out there now. He also scares the liberals more than the others. He will get alot of votes just for that

I'd only vote for Thompson if he picks Captain Stubing as his running mate. I think they'd make a fine team.

I quit my corporate job after 19 years of servitude. I plan to take a couple months off.
But don't worry. As soon as I'm working again I'll be as cantankerous as ever.

Will you be ill-tempered and quarrelsome as well?

It's amazing what that can do for the disposition.
I'm betting it's Thompson & Jeb vs. Gore & Obama.

Then what shall we bet?
I know I'll win something from Gary, as usual, but I'm willing to take something from you as well.

When Pete says "I bet" he doesn't mean for money or cds.
Obama is the front-runner for VP on the Democratic side, although it's unlikely that Gore will in the nomination. Tim Pawlenty is the Republican favorite, although they are all longshots.

Good move. Time off is good for the system; I've been at it for over a year now.
As for Pete's claim, I have a hard time believing Thompson will be the Republic nominee, but these days nothing surprises me.

Captain Stubing? Are you smoking pot? Now, Gopher, on the other hand...he served as a Congressman from Iowa. Iowa! Hello! Only background check this mofo like crazy. Last thing we need is it to be February 08 and a past Gopher/Charo/Lauren Tewes orgy explodes on our face, er, in our face.

Who/what liberals are scared of the guy? What I pick up about him is mostly ridicule. On the bright side, he's interviewing Rove's toady, Tim Griffin - of the US attorneys scandal - to be his campaign manager. Classy guy. Though it's pretty obvious that he attractive as a candidate because the rest of the GOP field is so lame. THAT says a lot. You need to get Zombie Reagan or Jack Bauer on the case if you really want to win.

I'll put up $2 if Gordon will make the odds. I figure I stand to make at least $1,000 on that one.

If Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland decided to seek the GOP nomination, he'd win it in a landslide.

Social-Christian conservative Fred Thompson, who believes in traditional marriage (he's "pro-traditional-marriage"), is pictured below with his current wife -- 25 years younger than he, 4 years younger than his own daughter -- after the 2006 White House Correspondent's Dinner:
Classy guy. 4 years younger than his daughter? One sick fuck.

At least he's not banging his daughter, Clay. You can't blame him for snagging some fine young stuff if he can get it, but his piety is a sham.

How is that sick, exactly? I would never date a broad 25 years younger than me, but there's nothing wrong with it.

It's wrong because she's pushing 40.
I would have gone for a babe in her early 20s.
