Yoko Ono, artist eat a corgi
30/05/2007 09:21 - (SA)

London - A British artist and Yoko Ono ate a corgi dog, famous for being Queen Elizabeth II's favourite breed, in protest on Tuesday after a group including her husband Prince Philip allegedly killed a fox earlier this year.

Mark McGowan, who has previously eaten a swan as part of a performance art show, tucked into the dog alongside the widow of ex-Beatle John Lennon, live on a London radio station.

"I know some people will find this offensive and tasteless but I am doing this to raise awareness about the RSPCA's inability to prosecute Prince Philip and his friends shooting a fox earlier this year, letting it struggle for life for five minutes and then beating it to death with a stick," he said.

The RSPCA (the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is in charge of handing over evidence to British prosecutors in cases where they believe acts of cruelty to animals have been committed.

They said they found "no evidence" that any offence had taken place in January, when the incident took place.

"An independent post-mortem examination was carried out and found that the fox died from gunshot wounds - and no evidence of other injury or trauma was found," it said in a statement.

"The only witness who could have supported the version of events reported in some sections of the media refused to give a statement."

McGowan said the dog, which died at a breeding farm, tasted "really, really disgusting," and added that Ono "looked a bit strange" as she also tasted the dog.

The queen has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign, which started in 1952, and currently owns four.

Raising awareness. Great ploy. What a couple of idiots. Of course you don't eat an animal that hasn't been killed. If it died on its own it was either really old or sick. If you want justice, send Philip hunting with Cheney.

Look at all of the horses the royal family owns, mainly the queen. Once they've past the time when they are at their youngest, full of life, at a time that most people consider a good time to use and own them, she has numerous horses put down. Somethimes they are pretty young, with more than a decade of a good and healthy life left to them, but she doesn't want her pampered, stall raised horses turned out into pastures or large paddocks where they might be injured. She doesn't want them going to owners who might not understand, or know how to treat them, or to stable hands who might abuse them. Like her set up is the only one suited to them, that they would find a life running and sunning up out in the fresh country air detrimental. I would imagine the number of healthy horses, she has had put down, horses which could have had a much longer life, is staggering.

I meant to add, if she can do this to some magnificiant horses which she more than likely spent a lot of time around, then how is it that anyone could believe she'd give a whit about some little dog a stranger owned? It seems to me it would just be another animal she could care less about.

Just a talentless old broad trying to keep herself in the public eye.

An ancient Paris Hilton.

That's no way to speak about the queen.

Ugh........

I have no love for Ono, but to compare her to Paris Hilton seems a rather outrageous stretch.

you're an idiot.

in related news:

'As listeners may be aware Resonance FM is often a challenging and provocative broadcasting presence and we encourage artists/producers/presenters to negate boundaries and conventions whenever possible. However, recently certain boundaries have been breached that simply should not have been. On Tuesday the 29th of May the artist Mark Gowan claimed on air to be eating a corgi, he also claimed accompanying him in the studio was the very well known and highly respected artist Yoko Ono. The former point has yet to be proved but the latter is wholly untrue and we apologise unreservedly to Yoko Ono. '

I bet Clint knows very little about Yoko and/or Paris and he was just looking for a good line. (I think he found it)
