Ali Gee,
It's beyond my ken to explain this. Maybe someone can provide an assist?

A dumb commercial that has absolutely nothing to do with Barry Bonds. Thanks for sharing!

The ending was anticlimactic.

Actually I thought it was funny in a Blazing Saddles fart scene kind of way, like the sheer volume of incidents makes a titter into a guffaw. But most importantly, it sheds light on something that's been confusing me: seeing RR billboards apologizing if people found their ad offensive. I hadn't seen this before but I'm surprised anyone would take offense to it. I mean, if you can have commercials for douches and anal itch cream, then why not show some guys taking one in the yarbles?
As for the thread title and the connection to Barry Bonds, I'm guessing that Lenny was either a) making the point that only a steroid-saturated monster could hit the ball so hard as to bruise the testicles of dozens of innocent bystanders, or b) trying to goad Goodspeak into something.
Ultimately, I don't care much either way, since I'd rather drink Barry Bonds' urine than a Rolling Rock.

I havent seen the clip (streaming media banned at work), but I heard someone mention that the voice over for a RR commercial was Duane Kuiper.

VW has a funny take on this trend. They recently placed an ad in the car mags "apologizing" for the "fact" that the Passat out-accelerates the BMW 525i from 0-60.
Almost as clever as the Audi jab at Lexus, wherein an A4 power slides into a paralell parking spot between two other cars, and the announcer proclaims it "The luxury sports car for people who can park themselves."

The voice in the commercial is one of the Giants radio announcers, young Dave Fleming..........perhaps why the s-t-r-e-t-c-h to the Bonds mention.
Dave is becoming quite good IMO under the tutelage of John Miller.
Dave was questioned last night on the Giants pre-game about the commercial, which sounded like a fun project to have done.

I can't speak for the Bimmer, but I drove a new Passat a couple of weeks ago when my car was in for service, and even though it had the base turbo four it was pretty damned quick. The 3.6 V6 has got to be a screamer (though it's paired with an AWD system, which could slow it down some).

The best 0-60 I've seen for the new Passat is still over 6 seconds.
C & D got a 5.8 second run out of the Camry. It's actually .1 quicker to 60 than my Charger w/HEMI was.

They're on FM now! 106.9 very strong single, though not as strong as the Cumulus' Giants Propaganda Network 680 and 1050.

Ha ha Fruedian slip. I must have been thinking Kendall. Although that would have been a weak bloop single.

And hey, congrats on the new car, Scott. That's a great car. They just don't build cars better than the Camry.

Yes, it is. But it really is as fast as advertised. The difference maker between it and the Charger is 700 lbs. and the camry has a close ratio 6 rather than the 5 speed auto that the charger has.

I think you may be right about that, Master Nagel. The thing is ultra quiet with a soft ride and rock solid build quality. I'm glad to be back in a Toyota. My 2000 Celica GT that I traded in for the Charger was absolutely bullet proof.
This thing is like a little space ship. I went ahead and popped for the Nav and the smart key system, which is about as ultra cool as it gets. But combine that with the auto headlights, and auto dimming rearview mirror, all you have to do is get in and drive.
Very, very sweet car. A tick quicker than the Charger and I'm getting nearly 8 MPG better. I was averaging 14.5 around town with the Charger and I'm averaging just a little over 22 with the Camry. Big difference.

Ain't nothin' like a new car. Nothin' in the world. Sounds like a blast. Enjoy!
