Lincoln Center Midsummer Night Swing
Hi,
My name is Sarah Raines and I work for Lincoln Center on this years Midsummer Night Swing Program. I wanted to let you know about the exciting things we have going on here at Lincoln Center this summer. Every summer, we hold a program called "Midsummer Night Swing" that is a twenty-five night dance party on the plaza here at Lincoln Center. Each night features a different style of music and dance (a salsa night, a big band swing night, a tango night, etc.) with special guest dance instructors and musical performers.
I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to find out about these events, as we are all very excited here at Lincoln Center! We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to participate. I would appreciate any feedback you can offer. You can find all the details of the event by clicking on the link below and under "Upcoming Events" choose "Midsummer Night Swing." Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you!
Take Care,
Sarah

One of the hippest little big bands in the country shakes down the stars! Bandleader and composer JC Hopkins leads his classy ensemble through his own concoctions, along with sparkling renditions of classic jazz and show tunes.

That is pretty cool! Didn't realize any of those guys were still alive, much less still performing!

The Midsummer Night Swing series is so much fun. The setting (the courtyard by the fountains in the heart of Lincoln Center) is gorgeous, the sound is good, the people watching is fabulous (Many of the professional ballet dancers in the area show up to do some mean swing dancing) and you can drink. (They sell beer, wine and cocktails. I bring a backpack, a bottle and my own plastic cups).
Finally, they have music several nights a week for a month, with a wide variety of bands who have some connection to swing, and they are usually excellent.
To summerize (sic): it is a very idyllic way to spend a warm summer evening.
If you go to their website and it looks like it costs money to attend, don't be confused. There is a dance floor area with a low fence right in front of the stage that costs $$ to enter, but there is no real reason to. You can see everything well from outside the dance floor (including the dancers on the dance floor) and most of the dancing action occurs outside of the official $$ dance floor area.
