LEE MORGAN RADIO SPECIAL WITH HELEN MORGAN INTERVIEW

Thomas Simmons, host of the Midnight Special program (12 midnight to 5 am on Friday night/Saturday morning) on WCLK-FM (91.9) in Atlanta, is scheduled to present A LEE MORGAN BIRTHDAY SPECIAL, five hours of the late trumpet legend's music, on July 14, 2007. This is an annual event for Mr. Simmons, who has been on the air since 2000. This year's installment will include the airing of a profile and interview of Helen Morgan, the lady who shot Lee Morgan. The radio documentary, called the Carolina Connection, is part of a series which spotlights the fact that there are over 50 jazz personalities and counting, who have roots in either North or South Carolina. North Carolina is the birthplace of John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Max Roach, Nina Simone, Percy Heath and Helen Morgan, who was not a musician but a person who became an integral part of Lee Morgan's life and his death. She was responsible for saving his career and ending it. Listen to her story, from her mouth, and no other, and hear her side of the bittersweet Frankie-and-Johnny tale. The Helen Morgan Radio Project is scheduled to be aired July 14, 2007, during A LEE MORGAN BIRTHDAY SPECIAL, on The Midnight Special, hosted by Thomas Simmons, which is programmed from 12 midnight to 5am on WCLK-FM,
ATLANTA, GEORGIA at 91.9 FM
