Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, Jack DeJohnette
Just returned from their Carnegie Hall concert. It was very tight, and hard to believe the level of compatibility between the musicians, even after almost 25 years of playing together. There was not much atonal territory covered, but Jarrett seems to do that more when he plays solo.
The trio’s first set swung relentlessly in Keith inimitable style, with the suburb backing of Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette.
The second set was more ballad-orientated, with extremely sensitive, intuitive improv by all three men.
There were three encores, culminating with an excellent version of God Bless the Child.
I hope that someone else that was there can elaborate more on this event. I’m sure the reviews in the papers, magazines and net will be very positive. If not, they're wrong. This was as near-perfect a concert as I have ever attended.
They MUST put this out on Video, or CD. It went too fast for me to take it all in. I’ve got to hear this again, many times!
