The Loose Ends Thread
Ever have one of those days? You know, where nothing goes according to plan or everything that could go wrong does go wrong? I don't know about you guys but I've been feeling at loose ends lately....as if the Cosmos took a vote and I lost. It's like feeling as if you're two cents waiting for change.
Lately, it has been my memory. Two days ago, I lost my keys. Can't find them anywhere. A week ago I forgot my father's birthday and then called him on the very same day to talk to him about something completely unrelated....and found out it was his birthday by accident [he told me]. And don't even talk to me about which CDs I own.
It's getting so I couldn't tell you what I had for breakfast let alone what day of the week it is. If someone I meet tells me his/her name, I have forgotten it two seconds after they utter the last letter. Am I coming or am I going?
This thread is about that which you wish you could control but always seems to be working against you.

Nice try.
My theory is the key gnomes got them...they are the same gnomes who have my To Kill A Mockingbird video.

One year, ages ago, when our daughter was little about 5 years old, I baked a chololate devils food cake from scratch, no electric mixer, all by hand, and decorated it with all sorts of things. I put on the prettiest lemon yellow, lemon flavored coconut frosting, adding little "Peeps" onto it and numerous other cute little things. Then I made up a bunch of sugar cookies, frosting them with colors to go with the cake. I put on all sorts of sprinkles and such. I can't think of what the other things were called. As I was finishing up a friend stopped by and acted a bit odd asking if I was having a birthday party for someone. I told her no, and she asked what everything was for, and when I told her for Easter, she asked me how I was going to keep it all fresh for that long a period of time. Easter wasn't for two weeks. Could of fooled me.
We lived out in the country, and we had no television, I had given our other radio away, and had sent the new one back, so we weren't up on anything. Such a blank spot in our lives. We lost out on learning in any detail about so many earthshaking events. So much so that we were living in our own little uneventful world. Bored out of our minds. Rich's work had tanked and we really went under for a bit, well more than a bit. For a long, long time actually.

Its been a rough day. I got up this morning ... put on a shirt and a button fell off. I picked up my briefcase and the handle came off. I'm afraid to go to the bathroom.

I once misplaced my eyeglasses during a party in college, and it took me until the next time I got drunk to find them, lying on top of a stack of paper bags heading down to the basement of the house where I lived then.
It seemed like a perfectly logical place to leave them (after eight beers), I guess I just needed to get on the same wavelength to find them again.

I get like that when I'm trying to cram 30 hours' worth of stuff into a 24 hour day.
Maybe you should slow down a bit, Goody.
But I'm just presuming.

I don't wear glasses anymore but sometimes I have a hard time to remember were I left my open beer nowadays.

It's bad when you leave your fly unzipped, but much worse if your forget to unzip it before. . .
