Important Radio Webcast Legislation

I received a very disturbing message and link this morning. I'm including it here for your information.

If you listen to jazz radio via the internet, the future of such broadcast streams are in serious jeopardy.

Recent proposed changes could have a devastating impact on jazz radio on-the-web, possibly dealing it a death blow.

Please go to the link provided and read the information, then join the effort to change this irreversibly harmful change brought on by a recent ruling.

The e-mail message I received this morning:

Hi jazzfriends:
>
> You may be aware of the legislation which jeapordizes jazz stations'
>abilities to maintain their webstream. While all of us want to see jazz musicians
>get their due, jazz radio -- which operates on the razor's edge to begin with
>will be forced to close down their webcasts if a recent ruling isn't amended.
>Which in turn will greatly reduce jazz music's visibility on the music scene.
>
> The KCSM website has a quick and painless way to contact your state reps
>and explains in detail that which I have just brushed over. Feel free (of
>course) to forward this to your jazzfriends, and here's the link:

Act Now!

Glad that you acted, Bill.

This is no joke, folks.

We need to support H.R. 2060, the Internet Radio Equality Act -- and quickly!

"The Internet Radio Equality Act would reverse a recent decision of the federal Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) to at least triple the amount of royalties Internet radio broadcasters pay to copyright holders for playing a song."

"These increases would bankrupt many Internet music Web casters and force U.S. radio stations to stop streaming their programs on the Internet."
