Free Jazz in NYC, suggestions.

I will be in NYC for three weeks this month. My main passion is free jazz. I've been to NY once before and I'm only familiar with music clubs such as the stone, knitting factory, tonic (closed now right?), blue note - I think that's it. I've been scanning the schedules and every looks rather slow for free jazz. Are there any locals about on this message board that could point me in the right direction? thank you.

We got recorded free jazz from places called:

- Fortunes, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
- Zebulon
- Spoken Words, Brooklyn
- ABC No Rio
- Nick's, Queens
- The Bridge, Williamsburg, Brooklyn
- Brecht Forum

Don't have the addresses, just the names.
It's very creative new free jazz going on. Something to check out!

Barbes in Brooklyn -- not so much "free jazz" but free-influenced "downtown" jazz.

The Downtown Music Gallery weekly (email) newsletter usually has a list of upcoming gigs. Which would be a starting point.

Good suggestion Reuben. You can find it online here.

It's depressing for me to check out these listings.
For today it lists the Ari Hoenig Trio at Smalls, Burton Greene Trio at Cornelia Street Cafe, Nublu Orchestra conducted by Butch Morris at Nublu.
