For some reason, when I saw that you had created this latest incarnation of a most popular thread, I thought of our pal, Dobie (SinginSumo), who constantly prodded me to post on this thread.
So, in his honor:
One of many albums he shared with me.

Having drink only two beers yesterday night, I can say it was at Sunside
It was a very good gig, totally free music, with no scores, almost an acoustic set (the bass only was amplified). Shipp has introduced such inexpected themes as "Frère Jacques" (I don't know the title of this tune in english). They also played with "Green Dolphin Street", "Giant Steps" or a tune from "Harmony & Abyss among others. During the second set there was a long "trance", with only William Parker and Gerald Cleaver playing a growing groove...
now playing:

Are you sleeping?
Are You sleeping?
Brother John,
Brother John.
Morning bells are ringing,
Morning bells are ringing,
Ding dong ding,
Ding dong ding.
But I think the title is still Frère Jacques

Sure, you aren't sleeping, Pete
This tune has been used by Mahler in his Titan symphony, but I don't know any jazz tune with this theme...

Eearlier this Week:
John Abercrombie - While We Were Young
Jupiter - Live At Glenn Miller With Jonas Kullhammar
Sonny Simmons - Last Man Standing
Sidsel Endresen - Nightsong
Free Fall - Amsterdam Funk
Bjørn Klakegg - A Day With No Plans at All

A word to explain that for those who were not at the last JC hang in Paris: while our beloved moldy fig, Clint, was underground, at Sunset, bored to death by "Other Dimensions in Music", I was upstairs, at Sunside, to hear Mulgrew Miller accompanying the french revivalist sax player Pierrick Pedron.
It was quite a paradoxical situation, and since this night, jaka fools me each time we meet
to come:

along with Tom (slightly bored too) + Douglas and I, entranced by the music of Roy Campbell and friends that night.
Which by the way is available on CD now, from Gérard Terronès' Marge label, and that I'm playing right now.
 2CD-set (Marge 38)
Speaking of which, anyone with a piece of advice on the AUM releases ("Time Is Of The Essence" & "Now!") of this band? I have the Silkheart already.

I had taken this one from the shelve this morning, but changed my listening plans. What a record! 100% on tomorrow's playlist.

Not Nim, but it's a great one.
Basically yesterday's trio + Roy Campbell on trumpet. Not bad for a start.

Hi jaka, sorry for the late response. I believe you would like them. Nacka Forum is a great quartet, playing a sort of muscular free-bop, with lots of energy. The first album has fun covers of Sun Ra's We Travel The Spaceways and Ornette's Law Years, but it's a bit short. That's why I almost always play the two albums back-to-back.
NP:

Wilber Morris Trio: Collective Improvisations (Bleu Regard, 1981). With Charles Tyler and Dennis Charles. Sounds good.
