Freddie Keppard

I was listening to some earlier jazz the other day, and realized that I don't think I have a single record with Freddie Keppard on it.

After searching around a bit, it looks like this is the only real option out there. Does anyone have it? Is the remastering decent, worth the money? Is there a better collection somewhere (even if OOP and found on eBay or whatever)?

I figured Classics would have something, but the one source I know for buying them doesn't have anything listed under his name.

There isn't a whole lot out there.

I have a few examples on old lps that were in various collections. Riverside had a lp box back in the 60s with some Keppard.

I don't think he was recorded very much.

I have Keppard stuff strewn across several compilations, so can hardly justify picking this up - but, yes, it is the biz.

I doubt if there are any Freddie Keppard videos on utube.

Every scrap that Keppard played on, including some questionable ones, fits on one CD.

Most of the tracks (especially the ones with Don Cooke's orchestra) don't give Keppard much chance to shine. (They say that he was well past his prime when he recorded.)

There is one real standout track, however: Stockyard Strut. You can hear it through the link that Nate provided. The way that Keppard punches into the rhythm here is rather unique.

I'm a real sucker for past-their-prime legends. I'll probably be picking up that CD, since nobody seemed to have any other suggestions.
